Parties

The customer under the contract is you. The supplier under the contract is Gold Exchange Direct Limited trading as RecycleOld.Gold. We are a company limited by shares, registered in England with number 14378142 and ICO Registration number ZB738866. Our registered office is at 4th Floor, 24 Old Bond Street, London W1S 4AW.
Customers must be at least 18 years of age to enter the contract.

The laws which apply to all our dealings with you are the laws of England and Wales.

We use Royal Mail Special Delivery which means your parcels are trackable and insured for up to £750. You are provided with a receipt as proof of postage and the parcel will be signed for upon receipt. We will not sign for or accept any parcels that look damaged or otherwise tampered with, nor will we accept parcels sent to us via any other means.
If you think your parcel may be worth more than £750 you can request more than one bag.

We do not sign for parcels which look to have been tampered with and we video record the opening of all parcels for enhanced security and to eliminate any chance of discrepancies between what was sent and received. However, if you wish to raise a dispute, please email us at [email protected].

Recycleold.gold works on economies of scale, so we are able to offer better prices for larger amounts of precious metals and prefer a minimum of 10g. We will accept and pay for parcels with less precious metal than this, but there is a £15 administration fee for their return if you do not accept our offer. Precious metals are defined as Gold, Platinum and Palladium. We will accept silver but it must come with at least 10g of precious metals if it is to be returned for free – otherwise a £15 admin charge applies.

Most gemstones have little to no onward value but we will accept them if you do not wish to remove them yourself. If we can find a buyer for your stone(s), we will make you a separate offer (more likely for bigger stones, depending on cut, colour and clarity). We do advise you to remove them before sending your jewellery to us if you wish to keep any gemstones, or they can be returned to you for an administration fee of £15. If you have not paid for their return after 28 days, we will assume you wish for us to dispose of them.

We use X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis to accurately identify the purity and volume of the gold (or other precious metal) and then combine these factors with the daily London Bullion Market Association spot prices in order to make an offer. We reserve the right to use destructive methods to assess the items, which may cause staining or deep scratches.

Offers will only be made on working days (Monday to Friday, excluding Bank holidays).Offers will only be made where you have certified that you own and have the right to sell the items. If we request ID from you, we will only make an offer if that ID can be verified with an external agency.
Our prices change regularly and are driven by the global metal market prices. As such, any offer is valid only until 18:00 on the day it is made. If you have not accepted or rejected your offer by this time, a new offer will be generated when you get in touch with us, based on the latest spot prices. If we have not heard from you by 18:00 on the 28th day, we will generate a new offer (based on the LBMA spot price) which will be deemed to be accepted and we will retain the items and make payment for the goods (where we hold payment information).

We need to have alternative quotes in writing, detailing the date made, weight and grade of metals. Gold prices change daily so our quote-beating offer will be adjusted based on the difference in gold prices between the date of your quote and the day the parcel is received.

If you accept an offer, you are required to provide bank account details for a UK bank account held in your own name before the offer expires at 18:00. When these details are verified to our satisfaction (for which we may use external agencies), we will transfer the agreed amount via Faster Payments. This will normally be the same day but may take longer subject to checks by banking providers.

If a sale price cannot be agreed, you may terminate the contract by requesting the return of your items. Your items will be returned to you free of charge by Royal Mail Special Delivery where they contain a minimum of 10g of precious metals. This service is insured up to £750, if you require higher insurance coverage this can be arranged at your expense. Otherwise, including when the items have no commercial value, they will be returned (and the contract considered cancelled) when a fee of £15 is paid to cover the administration and postage costs. If the fee is not paid within 28 days, the request will be deemed to be cancelled and we will retain the items and make payment for the goods at the latest offer rate (where we hold payment information) or dispose of them if they have no value.

We act as a data controller. By submitting your data in our pack request form, you give us your explicit consent to use your personal data as described in the privacy statement. The privacy statement is subject to change, although the latest version is available on the website and your consent applies to the privacy statement as it stands at the date and time you provided your personal data.
You agree that we may use personal information provided by you in order to conduct appropriate identity verification for anti-fraud or anti-money-laundering checks. Personal information that you provide may be disclosed to a credit reference or fraud prevention agency, who may keep a record of that information. A credit check is not performed and your credit rating will be unaffected.
